What is your hometown?
Staten Island, New York
What are the biggest challenges of the work that you do?
Since I wear so many different hats, editor, stylist, consultant, blogger, staying organized and prioritizing is my biggest struggle. I love being constantly busy, but figuring out which project to attack first can sometimes be tough. I use the calendar app on my iPhone all the time to help me stay organized and on top of things.
What advice could you give on finding a healthy work-life balance?
This is so important! If you don't take time for yourself and friends you can easily burn out. My biggest advice is to just do it! On days when you're feeling overwhelmed and like you have a million things to do, those are the days to meet a friend for lunch or go for a quick walk outside. These times you take for yourself will help you clear your head and recharge.
What’s the best advice you’ve gotten from a mentor?
The best advice I've ever gotten was actually from my older sister. She asked me, "what do you get out of being shy?" This was when I was in high school and I wasn't always super outgoing. I wanted so badly to break out of my shell and when she asked me that question it just all kind of clicked.
What is your process when approaching your creative work?
My creative process happens very naturally since I’m constantly creating- I never really shut that part of my brain off. Whether I’m scrolling through Instagram, walking down the street, or browsing through a store in Soho, I constantly keep my eyes open and aware of new designers, brands, trends, etc. that could inspire an article or a shoot I’m working on.
When do you feel most empowered?
I feel most empowered when I'm wearing a really really bright, colorful outfit (preferably with sparkly shoes) when I'm wearing an outfit like this I feel unstoppable. So, on a day that I might not be feeling 100% mentally, I try to take a little extra time when planning out my outfit, it’s true what they say, the right pair of shoes, or outfit, could really change your life!
Where do you go in NYC to unwind?
As cliché as it might sound, I love escaping (whenever I can) to Laduree in Soho and treating myself to a vanilla macaron. I’ll sometimes bring a book or magazine order a cup of tea with my macaron and just relax. It’s the best, especially when they have their outdoor garden open in the summer!
What’s your biggest guilty pleasure (life’s all about balance after all!)?
After a really long day of running around the city I love eating a really good cheeseburger while drinking a glass of wine! It’s my ultimate guilty pleasure.
